STORYTELLING IN PAINTING
With this project, I aimed to elaborate on the dimension of storytelling in the painting medium. Overall, many see storytelling as something affiliated with writing. The following pieces are created to disclose highly detailed narratives within the boundaries of a framed canvas. They are primarily directed at building an entirely different universe that reveals many of its rules and characters.

CAFE MODERN
Café Modern is directed to cherish visual aesthetic of modern dining culture. The Café Modern works show how classical still art and portrait scenarios could be interpreted in modern society’s approach of seeing and feeling food nowadays. Some paintings are depicted from a high up angle. This choice was made to emphasize the popular modern way of perceiving the first impression of your dish: high up from the angle of a phone camera.
ABOUT
Dmytro Trach (artist name Trach Bardo) is a Ukrainian painter based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The world of art entered his life at the early age of 10 when drawing classes became a way of spending time with his peers. Throughout his university years and immigration to the Netherlands, occasional work in the studio and teaching art turned into a way of gathering everyday inspiration.
Currently, Dmytro resides in Amsterdam, where he actively works on creating new pieces.
Overall, the distinctive feature of Dmytro’s painting is the emphasis on bright, contrasting colors and precise forms. His primary focus is on figurative painting. Dmytro’s approach to painting is deeply rooted in storytelling, while the subject matter of his works often varies depending on the source of inspiration. His artworks often create distinct worlds, each with its own set of rules, characters, and narratives.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Dmytro’s artworks have been featured in multiple fundraising events, helping to raise donations for the Ukrainian army.
